چکیده

Turbot ( Scophthalmus maximus ) is an important marine fish both in Europe and North China. Although there are plenty of studies on the reproduction turbot, complete cytological process spermatogenesis remains unclear. In this study, we investigated submicroscopic structure total 23 types male germ cells throughout breeding season, with a relatively primary spermatocytes. We found that spermatid tail formed early at Spermatid II, were least 16 spherical mitochondria spermatozoa. The hepatosomatic index (HSI) gonadosomatic (GSI) peaked during season. Preliminary analysis showed vitality mature sperm was negatively correlated proportion deformity. serum 3,5,3′-triiodothyronine (T3), 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT), testosterone (T), 17α,20β-Dihydroxy-4-pregnen-3-one (17α,20β-DHP), 17β-estradiol (E2) all increased maturity period, change T content most noticeable. Whereas testis, overall high level 11-ketotestosterone (11-KT) more remarkable. expression localization androgen receptor AR mRNA highly expressed stages II (15 – 70 g), slight rebound [IV(2200 g) to V(2500 g)], whose ahead changes 11-KT. Fluorescence situ hybridization (FISH) mainly distributed but not limited Sertoli cells. This study represents overview reproductive cycle which provides reference for research guidance flatfish breeding.

Turbot - Scophthalmus maximus

Distribution Th e turbot, Scophthalmus maximus, also called Psetta maxima (Scophthalmidae, Pleuronectiformes), is naturally distributed in European waters, from Northeast Atlantic to the Arctic Circle (30o to 70oN; 23oW42oE). It occurs in the Baltic and in the Mediterranean, as well as in the Black Sea, where a subspecies Psetta maxima maeotica has been described (1). It also exists in the Sout...

Systemic disease in turbot Scophthalmus maximus

A new group of Cytophaga-like bacteria has been recovered from healthy and diseased turbot in Scotland. Cultures produced orange colonies and contained short rods with distinctively thick cell walls. Gliding movement was observed and the guanine plus cytosine ratio of the DNA was 31.7 to 32.1 mols %. The organism caused gill hyperplasia and systemic haemorrhagic septicaemia in both naturally di...

A microsatellite genetic map of the turbot (Scophthalmus maximus).

A consensus microsatellite-based linkage map of the turbot (Scophthalmus maximus) was constructed from two unrelated families. The mapping panel was derived from a gynogenetic family of 96 haploid embryos and a biparental diploid family of 85 full-sib progeny with known linkage phase. A total of 242 microsatellites were mapped in 26 linkage groups, six markers remaining unlinked. The consensus ...

Scuticociliate infection and pathology in cultured turbot Scophthalmus maximus from the north of Portugal.

During the years 2004 and 2005 high mortalities in turbot Scophthalmus maximus (L.) from a fish farm in the north of Portugal were observed. Moribund fish showed darkening of the ventral skin, reddening of the fin bases and distended abdominal cavities caused by the accumulation of ascitic fluid. Ciliates were detected in fresh mounts from skin, gill and ascitic fluid. Histological examination ...

Epizoic amoebae from the gills of turbot Scophthalmus maximus.

Species of amoebae belonging to the genera Platyamoeba Page, 1969, Vannella Bovee, 1965 and Flabellula Schaeffer, 1926 were found to accompany Paramoeba sp., the agent of amoebic gill disease (AGD), in clinically diseased turbots. The same community of epizoic gymnamoebae was found on the gills of turbots which revealed no gill abnormalities but slight behavioral signs indicative of suboptimal ...
